Fish for an angler's room, a lake house or a coastal bathroom: a gyotaku ink rubbing of a sea bream with every scale showing, a rainbow trout leaping from a river, and a mackerel shoal turning in a ring. Each is shown as an ink rubbing on cream rice paper, as a loose cabin watercolour, and as a flat graphic of repeated scales. The direction field takes another fish, such as salmon, koi or pike, as a request.

Frequently asked questions
- What is a gyotaku print?
- A Japanese technique that presses ink from a real fish onto paper. Here the first picture is a rendered image in that style, not an actual rubbing.
- What is the difference between the three styles?
- The ink rubbing is black and indigo with one red seal. The cabin watercolour is river greens, silver grey and rust. The scale pattern is flat navy, aqua and sand with a white highlight.
- Can I ask for a different fish?
- Yes. Type it in the direction field, such as salmon or pike; the picture is a request, not a promised match.
- Are these photographs of fish?
- No. They are rendered pictures in the styles described, not photographs.
About toile
This page is a showcase and a starting point: nine samples already rendered, three readings of the pack crossed with three styles, each shown at the size and ratio it was made for. Take any of them further on the wall with a few words, or ask for all nine again under your own direction; a sign-in keeps what you make, and it is free while Toile is new. The recipe behind each sample — the subject, the style, the palette, the framing — travels with the image rather than staying private to the render: it is in the alt text of every sample and in the page's own structured data, so a search engine reads the same handles a person would.
