Three painting traditions, each with its own colours and border: a pair of fish curving round each other in Madhubani style, a walled Mughal garden with a white marble pavilion, and a great Gond tree full of birds. Each scene is shown in fine-line folk with a patterned border, in a jewel-coloured Mughal miniature with gold, and in Gond dot art on a dark ground. The direction field takes another subject, such as an elephant, as a request.
- a home with a folk painting wall
- a hallway or dining room in red, yellow and green
- a gift for someone who loves Indian art
Frequently asked questions
- What is Madhubani?
- A folk painting tradition from the Mithila region of Bihar, with bold black outlines and areas filled with fine lines and dots.
- What is the difference between the three styles?
- Fine-line folk has black outlines filled with hatching on cream. The miniature is gouache in ruby, emerald and lapis with a gold-ruled border. Gond dot art is bright flat colour filled with dots and dashes on black.
- Can I ask for a different subject?
- Yes. Type it in the direction field, such as an elephant or a village scene; it is a request, not a promised match.
- Are these photographs?
- No. They are rendered pictures in the painting styles described.
About toile
This page is a showcase and a starting point: nine samples already rendered, three readings of the pack crossed with three styles, each shown at the size and ratio it was made for. Take any of them further on the wall with a few words, or ask for all nine again under your own direction; a sign-in keeps what you make, and it is free while Toile is new. The recipe behind each sample — the subject, the style, the palette, the framing — travels with the image rather than staying private to the render: it is in the alt text of every sample and in the page's own structured data, so a search engine reads the same handles a person would.
