Mehndi a married woman applies the day before her Karva Chauth fast. The three designs are a full palm with the moon seen through a sieve, a back-of-hand design of a woman holding a thali with a diya beside a spouted karva, and a front-of-hand design of peacocks and mango paisleys with a small blank heart in the palm for a husband's initial. Each comes in traditional, Arabic or minimal line work. Type a different motif as the direction.
- a henna design for the evening before the fast
- a reference for a mehndi artist
- a card or post for the day
- a hand design to copy at home
Frequently asked questions
- Is the mehndi shown on a real hand?
- No. Each design is drawn inside the flat outline of a hand, with the pattern in clean line work.
- What is the difference between the three styles?
- Traditional is fine cone-line work with dense netting and dot fills, in reddish-brown henna on white; Arabic has thick strokes that trace large flowers, in black on white; minimal is a single fine line with most of the hand left open.
- Where is the husband's initial?
- In the front-hand design, a small blank heart sits in the palm, left empty for the initial.
- Can I change the motif?
- Yes. Type a motif as the direction; it is a request, and the design may differ from the sample.
About toile
This page is a showcase and a starting point: nine samples already rendered, three readings of the pack crossed with three styles, each shown at the size and ratio it was made for. Take any of them further on the wall with a few words, or ask for all nine again under your own direction; a sign-in keeps what you make, and it is free while Toile is new. The recipe behind each sample — the subject, the style, the palette, the framing — travels with the image rather than staying private to the render: it is in the alt text of every sample and in the page's own structured data, so a search engine reads the same handles a person would.
