Kasuti is the counted-thread embroidery of Karnataka, traditionally stitched on Ilkal sarees and blouse pieces. These nine charts show a gopura tower, a temple chariot and a blouse border over a fine grid. Each comes as a counted grid, a solid-cell silhouette, or a two-tone chart. Type a different motif and the same layout carries it.
- a blouse sleeve border
- a motif on a saree edge
- a counted sampler
- a small piece for a wall
Frequently asked questions
- What is gavanti?
- A double running stitch, one of the two kasuti stitches used in these charts. The other is murgi.
- What does the second colour in the two-tone style show?
- The second thread colour marks the return pass.
- Is the back the same as the front?
- Yes. Kasuti is worked to look the same on both sides of the cloth.
About toile
This page is a showcase and a starting point: nine samples already rendered, three readings of the pack crossed with three styles, each shown at the size and ratio it was made for. Take any of them further on the wall with a few words, or ask for all nine again under your own direction; a sign-in keeps what you make, and it is free while Toile is new. The recipe behind each sample — the subject, the style, the palette, the framing — travels with the image rather than staying private to the render: it is in the alt text of every sample and in the page's own structured data, so a search engine reads the same handles a person would.
