Kawaii is the Japanese style of everyday things given round bodies, dot eyes and a small blush. These nine pages are sheets of such characters, drawn to copy into notebooks, letters and sticker designs. One sheet shows food, one shows animals, and one shows objects. Each sheet comes in fine pen, bold marker or soft pastel fills. For a different subject, type it in the direction box.

Frequently asked questions

What makes a kawaii drawing kawaii?
Round bodies, dot eyes, and a small smile or blush marks on each character.
What is the difference between the three styles?
Fine pen has thin outlines, bold marker has chunky bodies with two dot eyes and a tiny mouth, and pastel adds soft fills in pink, mint, lilac and cream.
Can I ask for a different set of characters?
Yes. Type the subject in the direction box, such as sweets, sea life or sleepy faces. A typed subject is a request, so the result may differ from the samples.

About toile

This page is a showcase and a starting point: nine samples already rendered, three readings of the pack crossed with three styles, each shown at the size and ratio it was made for. Take any of them further on the wall with a few words, or ask for all nine again under your own direction; a sign-in keeps what you make, and it is free while Toile is new. The recipe behind each sample — the subject, the style, the palette, the framing — travels with the image rather than staying private to the render: it is in the alt text of every sample and in the page's own structured data, so a search engine reads the same handles a person would.
