Mudmee is Isan's weft ikat — the name means tied thread. Bundles of mulberry-silk weft are bound and dyed colour by colour before weaving, then thrown against a plain warp so the figure surfaces blurred. These nine carry a serpent figure, a three-band skirt layout and a tied-weft blur through bound-and-dyed weft, plain warp ground and soft-edge surfacing. Ask for a different woven figure and the same three ikat styles carry it.
