Dot rangoli is drawn from a grid of dots, laid first, with the lines looped around the dots. These nine show three grids: a five-dot four-petal flower, a seven-dot lotus, and a nine-dot diya with its lamp at the centre. Each comes as a black-ink dot sheet, as a colour-filled finish and as a tracing sheet with dashed guides. Type a colour, such as red and gold, or a dot count such as 13 dots, to ask for it.
- a daily floor design copied from the sheet
- a tracing sheet for a beginner
- a printed sheet to colour in
Frequently asked questions
- Can I print these sheets?
- The black-ink and tracing sheets are flat line art on a white background, the form that prints; the colour-filled finish is also a flat sheet.
- What does the dot count mean?
- The number of dots in the grid the design is drawn on: five for a five-by-five grid, seven for a seven-by-seven, and nine for a nine-dot diamond.
- What is the difference between the three styles?
- Dots and lines is a black-ink diagram with one looping line; colour filled keeps the faint grid and fills the loops with colour; step by step has large dots and dashed guides to follow by hand.
About toile
This page is a showcase and a starting point: nine samples already rendered, three readings of the pack crossed with three styles, each shown at the size and ratio it was made for. Take any of them further on the wall with a few words, or ask for all nine again under your own direction; a sign-in keeps what you make, and it is free while Toile is new. The recipe behind each sample — the subject, the style, the palette, the framing — travels with the image rather than staying private to the render: it is in the alt text of every sample and in the page's own structured data, so a search engine reads the same handles a person would.
