Rangoli and alpona for Durga Puja and the Navratri days, made at the pandal entrance, at home or for a rangoli competition. The three designs are the Goddess's face with a red bindi and gold crown inside a ring of red hibiscus, a Bengali alpona with a lotus, her small footprints and a border of conch shells, and the trishul crossed with a conch and a lotus above a dhak drum. Type a different motif as the direction.
- a floor design at the pandal entrance
- an entry for a rangoli competition
- an alpona for a Bengali home
- a flower-petal design for the puja room
Frequently asked questions
- What is alpona?
- Alpona is Bengali floor art, drawn with white rice paste in lines, rows of dots and filled shapes, usually with lotus and conch motifs.
- Which style uses only one colour?
- The rice-paste style is white only; the powder style uses deep red, vermilion, saffron, yellow, black and white.
- Does a design show a person?
- The Goddess is shown by her face and her footprints, not by a full figure, and no person is in the frame.
- Can I change the motif?
- Yes. Type a motif as the direction, such as a lion or a contest design; the result follows the request.
About toile
This page is a showcase and a starting point: nine samples already rendered, three readings of the pack crossed with three styles, each shown at the size and ratio it was made for. Take any of them further on the wall with a few words, or ask for all nine again under your own direction; a sign-in keeps what you make, and it is free while Toile is new. The recipe behind each sample — the subject, the style, the palette, the framing — travels with the image rather than staying private to the render: it is in the alt text of every sample and in the page's own structured data, so a search engine reads the same handles a person would.
