Numbered step sheets for drawing a mouth. The open mouth is drawn from the front, with lips, top teeth, tongue and the dark inside. The profile sheet shows the lips and chin in side view, and the expressions sheet builds a row of cartoon mouths, from a smile to a tongue sticking out. Type a different expression, such as a shouting mouth, and the same panels build it.
- a drawing practice sheet for a child learning faces
- a classroom art lesson on expressions
- a sketchbook page for a cartoon character
- a how-to handout for an art club
Frequently asked questions
- How do the numbered panels work?
- Each mouth is drawn in numbered boxes, and each box adds the next lines to the one before. The last box holds the finished mouth.
- What is the difference between the three styles?
- Classic is a plain black outline. Guide shapes starts from light gray circles and ovals that the black line is traced over. New lines in red shows the lines of each step in red over the black ones.
- Can I print these?
- Yes. Each is a portrait page on plain white, with flat line art and no shading.
- Can I ask for a different expression?
- Yes. A typed expression is a request for the same step-sheet format, not a guaranteed result.
About toile
This page is a showcase and a starting point: nine samples already rendered, three readings of the pack crossed with three styles, each shown at the size and ratio it was made for. Take any of them further on the wall with a few words, or ask for all nine again under your own direction; a sign-in keeps what you make, and it is free while Toile is new. The recipe behind each sample — the subject, the style, the palette, the framing — travels with the image rather than staying private to the render: it is in the alt text of every sample and in the page's own structured data, so a search engine reads the same handles a person would.
