Reading 1Patterned strips
Reading 2Countdown chain
Reading 3Colour-in strips

A paper chain is made by cutting strips apart and looping each one through the last. These nine pictures give three kinds of strip: ten patterned strips of stripes, dots and zigzags, a countdown chain numbered 1 to 12, and a black-and-white set with stars, flowers and animals to colour. Each comes as black line art, printed colour and a children's sheet. Type another theme, such as rainbow or advent, and the strip layout stays the same.

  • a countdown to a holiday or a birthday
  • a classroom display of chains
  • a colouring activity for a rainy day
  • a room decoration for a party

Frequently asked questions

What do the nine pictures show?
Strip sheets in three uses, patterned strips, a countdown chain and colour-in strips, each in three styles.
How do I make the chain?
Cut the strips apart along the dashed lines, then loop each strip through the last and join the ends.
How does the countdown chain work?
Each strip carries one number. Remove one strip each day, and the last number shows how long is left.
Can I ask for a different theme?
Yes, type a theme such as a christmas chain. That is a request, and the strips may not match the sample.

About toile

This page is a showcase and a starting point: nine samples already rendered, three readings of the pack crossed with three styles, each shown at the size and ratio it was made for. Take any of them further on the wall with a few words, or ask for all nine again under your own direction; a sign-in keeps what you make, and it is free while Toile is new. The recipe behind each sample — the subject, the style, the palette, the framing — travels with the image rather than staying private to the render: it is in the alt text of every sample and in the page's own structured data, so a search engine reads the same handles a person would.
