Chunlian are the paired red strips pasted on either side of the front door at the Spring Festival, with a short strip across the lintel. Each sheet lays out a full set on one page. The classic pair reads 天增岁月人增寿 and 春满乾坤福满门, with the lintel 四季长春. The goat year pair carries 三阳开泰 in gold. The blank set has squares for you to write each character by hand.
- A front door for the Spring Festival
- A shop or restaurant entrance
- A classroom display of the New Year
- A set to brush by hand
Frequently asked questions
- Are the characters already written?
- The classic and goat-year sets carry the characters in print. The blank set leaves each square empty for you to write.
- How many strips does a set have?
- A set has two tall side strips and a short lintel strip across the top.
- What is the difference between the three styles?
- Red and gold uses gold characters on glossy red, ink brush uses black ink with dry-brush texture on red strips, and cut paper uses plum and cloud papercut borders on cream.
- Can I change the year or the phrase?
- Yes. Type a different year or phrase; the result may differ from the sample, so check every character before you print.
About toile
This page is a showcase and a starting point: nine samples already rendered, three readings of the pack crossed with three styles, each shown at the size and ratio it was made for. Take any of them further on the wall with a few words, or ask for all nine again under your own direction; a sign-in keeps what you make, and it is free while Toile is new. The recipe behind each sample — the subject, the style, the palette, the framing — travels with the image rather than staying private to the render: it is in the alt text of every sample and in the page's own structured data, so a search engine reads the same handles a person would.
